TheKnot, “the nation’s leading wedding resource” according to The Washington Post, released its predictions for 2014’s hottest wedding trends on January 7. The trends range from social media-centered proposals to a step back to nature, with woodsy receptions and over-the-top floral displays. Here are the latest trends for brides and grooms to be:
Social Media Proposals?
Believe it or not, more beaus are getting up off one knee and proposing on social media sites instead. WTAQ reports that 15% of participants in one British poll even prefer a public proposal via social media. A much more popular — and widely accepted trend — is recording proposals for hundreds of social media users to see. “Hopeful grooms, it seems, are increasingly willing to put in time, effort and money to impress their significant others (and, perhaps, YouTube viewers),” The Washington Post explains. The Knot’s Winikka offers her two cents, “Documenting is so huge. People are hiring a photographer or videographer, or else asking a friend to take pictures.”
Reconnecting With Nature
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a growing number of intended couples choose woodsy venues adorned with elaborate displays of cascading flowers. “The big wedding theme this year looks rustic and natural with sophisticated, glam accents, like the weddings of Sean Parker and Kate Bosworth. The centerpieces are branchy and green with lots of lush flowers and a pop of sparkle. For fashion, brides will don long wedding veils and dresses with ethereal lace and floral embellishments,” The Wall Street Journal says.
Couples need to tread carefully with this particular wedding trend. Many brides and grooms make a glaring error: relying on the weather to be kind to outdoor ceremonies and receptions. Take chance out of the equation with wedding tent rentals. Tents keep the wedding party and guests comfortable during hot, cold, and rainy weather. Couples may also be able to take advantage of wedding linen rentals — from the same company — at a discounted rate. Wedding linen rentals often include table linen rentals (table clothes and runners), napkins, chair covers, and decorative sashes.
What are the latest wedding trends? According to The Knot, wedding trends are all over the place. More men are recording proposals for social media — or even proposing on social media sites — while others celebrate the simplicity and beauty of nature with ethereal woodland weddings.
