Tips For Attending Your First Concert

With countless winter concerts coming up on the horizon, many fans will be attending a venue for the first time. If you’re one of the many who has never gone to a concert before, here are some tips for preparing for your first live show.

Beware of fake tickets

It’s tempting to buy a cheap concert ticket from an unreliable source, especially if your entertainment venue has sold out of tickets. Unfortunately, there are countless scammers willing to take advantage of desperate fans.

Only buy concert or event tickets from Ticketmaster.com or directly your music venue box office. This is the only way to ensure you’re getting a valid ticket for entry. Thousands of unknowing people are turned away each day for fake tickets. This is especially prevalent for popular concerts where demand for event tickets is higher or sold out. This will result in scams, both online and at the concert venue.

Go in a group

A concert can be an exciting, but confusing place. To ensure you stay safe at your first concert, even if it’s a local concert, go in a pair or a group of three. Be sure to establish a meeting point should any of you get lost in the crowd as well. Concerts are exciting, but they can also be confusing if it’s your first time.

Luckily, concerts also have security guards and other employees who monitor safety and can answer any questions. Don’t hesitate to speak to a person of authority if you’re in need.

Don’t bring any food or water

Concert venues hate it when you bring in outside food and beverage. To avoid underage drinking and promote sales within the venue, they’ll likely ask you to throw your food or beverage away before you’re allowed to enter, even if you have valid event tickets. Remember to bring an extra couple bucks to buy a drink inside!

Choose your outfit accordingly

Concerts can be hot, especially if it’s an indoor venue. While comfortable pants are always a safe bet, you should also plan on bringing a light jacket in case they crank the air conditioning. If you like to jump and dance with the crowd, however, bring a hair tie as well. Regardless, always wear comfortable shoes.

Going to your first concert is exciting, but it can be stressful if you don’t know how to prepare. If you’re planning on attending an upcoming concert, follow these tips to stay safe and have fun.
